That's why we established the Okot Foundation, our dedicated initiative for giving back and making a tangible difference.
A Foundation Built on Faith and Gratitude: A Word from Our Founder

This simple phrase is the heartbeat of Okot Electric LLC and the driving force behind the Okot Foundation. Our founder shares a personal journey that deeply shapes our commitment to giving back:
"Growing up in Africa, I was passionate about electrical work and computers. However, my family couldn't afford to support my education and basic schooling. As a child, I worked hard just to be able to attend school. After finishing high school, the dream of college seemed impossible due to finances, and I had to put it aside.
During that time, I dedicated myself to volunteering full-time at my local church. About a year later, a missionary, whose ministry focused on supporting orphans affected by a long and terrible 24-year war, connected me with an anonymous sponsor from the United States. This incredible act of generosity covered my entire college education.
Because of this support, I was able to return to school, study Electrical, and earn my certificate and license in 2016. Eventually, I moved to Pittsburgh and founded Okot Electric LLC.
I truly believe God prepared me through these experiences to serve the Pittsburgh community. This history fuels my passion, and it's why my team and I approach our work with dedication, striving to perform every job 'as unto the Lord.' The Okot Foundation is our way of extending the same kind of support and opportunity that was given to me, reflecting God's love by serving others."
This personal experience is the foundation upon which our giving is built. The Okot Foundation channels our resources towards initiatives that uplift, support, and empower, focused on three core areas:
1. Honoring Our Community Heroes and Elders
We hold immense respect and gratitude for those who dedicate their lives to serving and protecting others, and for the seniors who have built the foundations of our community. The Okot Foundation proudly gives back by providing 5% to:
- Veterans: Recognizing the sacrifices made by those who have served in our armed forces.
- Seniors (65 years and above): Showing appreciation for their wisdom and contributions.
- Police Officers & Firefighters: Supporting the brave individuals who run towards danger to keep us safe.
- All First Responders: Acknowledging the critical, life-saving work performed daily.
Our support for these vital community members is a token of our deep appreciation for their unwavering commitment and service.
2. Supporting Local Faith and Charity Organizations.
Local churches and charities are often the backbone of community support systems, providing essential services and fostering connection. The Okot Foundation believes in strengthening this fabric by:
- Making Monthly Donations: We contribute financially to various churches and charitable organizations within our communities.
- Random Selection: To ensure broad support across diverse causes, recipient organizations are chosen randomly each month. This allows us to assist a broad spectrum of valuable local initiatives over time.

3. Extending Our Reach: Initiatives in Africa
Our commitment to positive impact extends beyond our local borders, reaching back to communities facing challenges similar to those our founder experienced. Recognizing the profound impact that access to necessities can have, the Okot Foundation actively supports communities in Africa through two key initiatives:
- Providing Solar Power: We help bridge the energy gap by funding and providing solar power systems to individuals, families, and communities who lack access to affordable and reliable electricity. This empowers them with light, safety, and opportunities for education and economic activity.
- Ensuring Access to Clean Water: Clean water is fundamental to life and health. The Foundation invests in projects to bring sustainable, clean water sources to African communities without access, significantly improving health outcomes and daily life.
